I made a mistake

I suffer from a fear of failure - still. And it took me awhile to see there is a different lens to look at failures or mistakes.

Mistakes v. Experimentation?

Anyone experience a construction project that went perfectly?

  • On schedule

  • No change orders

  • Finished exactly as designed

Personally I have never seen one. Let me know if you have and what the secret was. Most construction projects have at least 2 of these “failures” if not all 3. So is the project really a failure? Not likely.

So why do we expect perfection for our scope or our teams? I have learned a new belief that all of our projects whether a construction project or a personal project are all just experimentations. No right or wrong . . . Just learning experiments to see what works best. Some ideas work better than others. Some sequences are more successful than others. As long as I am learning and growing, I accept this as success. And I encourage my coaching clients to see the same perspectives.
